It’s time for a reboot! This week, Russ and Jared are getting into the trailer for Conan the Barbarian (2011). What was promised to be a new story and retelling actually seems like the same story with some minor tweaks. But at least we can all enjoy the handsome Jason Momoa, the dynamic Rose McGowan, and the terminally evil Stephen Lang. Will expectations be set appropriately by the trailer? Or are the guys going to need more mead?
When we last left Russ and Jared, the heroes of Hungerford (2014) had just thrown a person away in the trash. Some heroes they are! Will there be consequences for Drew Casson, Georgia Bradley, or Tom Scarlett? Will the alien brain slugs get their own justice? Will Russ and Jared do British accents? When we last left Russ and Jared, it was starting to hit the fan in Lavalantula (2015). Poor Steve Guttenberg dealing with crazed fan, Patrick Renna, and our teenage afterthought characters were about to discover that lavalantulas can lay eggs inside you that will explode from your body. It’s worse than they thought. Russ and Jared were excited for this week’s Police Academy reunion–aka Lavalantula (2015), but unfortunately there was too much Patrick Renna and not enough Michael Winslow. Also starring Steve Guttenberg (the Gutes! the Goots?!), Marion Ramsey, Nia Peeples, and thousands of fire-spitting CGI lavalantulas, the fellas were at least entertained by TV-14 gore. Is this movie smarter Russ and Jared think? No, no it’s not.

Didn’t get enough poorly imitated Irish accents at St. Patrick’s Day last week? You’re in luck! Thankfully Russ and Jared spare us their own accent work, but Matthew Goode did not have that foresight in Leap Year (2010). Also starring Amy Adams and (sort of) Adam Scott, the best thing about this movie is the scenery.
